Back Up Games Downloaded Via EADM Version 7+

EADM BackupHere’s a quick guide that explains how to back up your games downloaded using EA Download Manager Version 7 and above. Thanks to Michael Levis, Product Manager of EADM, for pointing me to these instructions, however, note that this procedure was not tested by EA or by me at the time this article was written.

When I test it (That’s if I need to reinstall Windows, I hope not soon) I can confirm that it is working, but in the meantime, if you need to format your PC or move your game to another PC, but do not want to download the whole game again, you can give this a try.

Ok here are the steps as instructed by EA. I will assume the game is Medal of Honor:

  1. Copy all game files to your back up media (DVD, External HDD or a partition on your hard disk)
  2. Move the copied files to new Windows installation (or to your new computer)
  3. Rename <root>/Binaries/moh.exe to something else. For example make it “moh_old.exe”. By default <root> should be:

    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Medal of Honor

    or on 64-bit systems:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Medal of Honor.

  4. If you haven’t installed yet, download and install EADM.
  5. Run EADM and log in.
  6. Click install

Again, since I haven’t tested this yet, I can’t confirm that this will work but I guess it’s worth a try.
